“Who I am” poem

Who I am
Howard Gaukrodger, 18.03.14

Howard G is a parcel of words,
listening to sounds,
observing gestures,
interpreting meaning.

Howard G looks at a voice
and sees an instrument
playing a melody,
but questions the notes.

Like wet sand,
I am moulded by surroundings
and willingly shaped
but always return to my original state.

In cityscape chaos,
I ride the smog of indifference,
while the bush and the ocean
eke out the real me.

Howard G is a structured emotion,
like scaffolding pipes
creaking and whistling,
but safe and secure.
